Manchester Airport is one of the UK's busiest airports and is located south-west of the City of Manchester.  The airport is ideally positioned for passengers traveling to and from Liverpool, the Midlands, North Wales and the North of England.  There is an excellent private aviation centre and the Visitors Centre is worth a visit, especially the static Concorde display. Construction on Ringway Airport (as it was known) began in 1936
